Monday Night Football Game Suspended After Player Collapses on Field

CINCINNATI — The Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals was suspended in the first quarter after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after a collision and was taken away by ambulance.

Hamlin’s condition was not known. But after both coaches met on the field, officials announced that they “temporarily suspended the game” as players headed to the locker room.

With six minutes remaining in the first quarter, Hamlin tackled Bengals receiver Tee Higgins after a 13-yard catch. Hamlin stood after the tackle but soon crumpled to the field. Trainers rushed to evaluate Hamlin and an ambulance drove onto the field. Medical personnel administered C.P.R. and attended to him for 10 minutes as players from both teams were visibly upset, some shedding tears on the sideline.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
